Blake's E3 Recap Part 2

Posted on 06/21/2016 at 01:19 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I'm okay with it being an open world, I just don't want it to be an open world in the same Vein as DA:I because DA:I's open world was fucking dreadful and I wish I could have just played the main story in that game from start to finish (doesn't help that combat was the worst in the series I guess.)

I hope you're wrong. I doubt you will be and I've been burnt before, but I hope the game lives up to the E3 promise.

I want to see how Nintendo approach it. What I saw reminded me a lot of MGSV/Far Cry 2 in that it seems more of a system driven sandbox with tons of mechanics that play off each other rather than a sightseeing tour. I'm down for that.

I still don't enjoy open worlds, I might be doomed.

I feel the same way honestly. I really don't like the combat in DA:I much at all apart from the archer class which admittedly is quite fun - or, at least fun compared to the rest of the classes. I do wish you could just blast through the main story though, as it's actually pretty cool and maybe one of the best stories in the series. It's just a shame about the rest of the game. I honestly feel like DA:2 had better combat as well.

I don't get people calling The Witcher 3's combat shallow. It's actually really deep, but I guess it's pretty bland on lower difficulties. On the higher ones you need to use magic, parry, and use alchemy and actually do research on the enemies in game before battle if you want to win, which I thoroughly enjoy.

The Witcher and Dragons Dogma are much better games IMO, and I'm really enjoying replaying The Witcher 3.

If you feel like a really fucking good game that's not open world and is like Diablo but with guns give Alienation a go on PS4. It's really fucking solid, and I'd love someone to play with if you're up for it some time.

This was the Polygon kerfluffel. They seriously sucked at playing Doom and this looked like their first ever first person shooter. I honestly don't care, but a lot of people in the GG camp used it as an excuse to go on the offensive. I just think it's kind of amusing.

The other one is The Surge, which I'll be talking about soon. It's ,made by the same people who made Lords of the Fallen which wasn't amazing but I had fun with it.

And yeah. I'm hoping there's a decent amount of space stuff. Even if there's not heaps I hope there's enough to freshen things up a bit.

I still don't enjoy open worlds, I might be doomed.

I didn't really enjoy the open worlds of DA:I much honestly, but you might. They are very MMO-ey.

Idk. I like open world games, but not the ones modern games are touting. I want to get lost and immersed in a world, not just have a checklist of crap to do. I want to discover things on my own. I haven't really gotten that since Oblivion/Risen though unfortunatelty.

You know I'm bad, I'm bad..........

Goddamn those are some good prices. I might actually be tempted to give The Order a go at that price, since the main compaints against the game are that it's short and a little generic.

The rest of those games are freakin solid too. You've got many hours of great gaming ahead of you. Keep us posted!

Kendrick's Untitled Ep is all kinds of excellent even if the mastering is a bit rough. Seriously love it.

I just bought Battlefield 4 on that same deal, and I adore it.

And yeah... this season of Daredevil is much bloodier than last time, which I love, but people at the gym may not lol.

Current gen is now complete

Oh I am too. I fucking love Vikings, and Norse culture in general (I've been watching the show vikings, listening to viking and pagan black metal, and trying to find games where I murder peoples faces with viking weaponry for a while now), but I just wish it was an entirely new game and not a God of War game, especially not a weird sequel/reboot like this.
