Future Islands - Seasons (Waiting on You)

It's crazy how big this band is getting.  They're originally from my neck of the woods (North Carolina).  I saw them at a local bar back when they were Art Lord and his Self-Portraits and enjoyed the show.  We went to see them because my now-wife grew up with and dated one of the guys in the band (and actually just broke up with him like 6 months before I met her).

I haven't really listened to them too much lately, but I've been meaning to.  They've been on a few late-night shows recently.  From what I've heard I like them okay, but not as much as their previous band.  I'll have to check this song out when I get home.

Came Back from Belgium and Other Updates

I really want to see Boyhood.  I'm a big Linklater fan already, and this movie just sounds really neat in concept.  As for this being your first Linklater movie, you need to watch more!  He had so many great movies of all types.  Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite comedies.  It's one of the movies that makes you feel nostalgic even if you didn't grow up during the time (or in your case even the same country). The "Before..." trilogy of movies is a great love story.  A Scanner Darkly (which like Minority Report is based on a Philip K. Dick story) is a really cool paranoid sci-fi movie.  Tape is good also, and the entire movie takes place in a hotel room in "real-time."

I've never seen Momma Mia and don't really ever plan too.  My wife loves it, but she's also a life-long Abba fan.  Luckily she's never forced me to go watch it with her.

I've been playing Deadly Premonition also.  I'm also really enjoying it, although the controls are awful.  I like the quirkiness to it, and the obvious Twin Peaks vibe.

Twin Peaks is also one of my favorite shows.  I re-watched it for the second time maybe about 6 months ago.  I'm just realizing that I forgot to re-watch the movie though.  I know I was disappointed with it the first time I saw it, probably because it wasn't the direct sequel I was hoping for.  I need to watch it again though, because I don't really remember much about it.

David Lynch movies in general are great.  Eraserhead is one of the strangest movies I've seen.  My favorite is probably Mulholland Drive, followed by Blue Velvet.

Anybody want a demo code for Smash Bros. 3DS

Oh yeah, I got 4.  Just had a couple I could give away.  Sent my other to Nick.  If it turns out he doesn't need it then I'll give it to someone else (or he can feel free to pass it on to someone).

No problem.  Let me know if it doesn't work.  I think all you need is the code, but I've never used a demo code on the 3DS so I'm not really sure.

New art and Netflix adventuring! (Some spoilers)

I've been wanting to see Nymphomaniac, so now that it's on Netflix I'll probably watch it sometime soon.  Having already seen a great many of Lars Von Trier's movies (Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Melancholia, etc) I already kind of know what to expect.  They are not always the easiest movies to watch, but I usually enjoy them for what they are.  They are defintely not for everyone, and I can only watch them when I am in a certain mood. The guy certainly does have a cynical and pessimistic view of humanity

Your Taste in Anti-Heroes Scares Me

I really enjoyed Breaking Bad, but like others said I don't think you're even meant to be rooting for Walter White, especially towards the end.  Although I started hating him I still wanted to know how his story ended, so it kept me watching.

Some of my favorite anti-heroes are Clint Eastwood's Man with no Name (from Sergio Leone's films), Rorschach from The Watchmen, Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tony Soprano, and I guess Kenny Powers (Eastbound and Down) could also be considered one.

Nintendo Club Rewards...Suck This Year

I can see why you'd be dissapointed.  Personally, I don't care about anything like figures or game soundtracks, so I'm fine with digital games.  I was a little dissapointed about the offerings though.  I got Donkey Kong Country Returns simply because it was the greatest deal.  I'd rather have the NES remix (I already owned a few of the others, including eartbound), but it is already so cheap that I'd just rather buy it.

This was my first year with club nintendo and  I now realize I made a mistake with registering my stuff. I just signed up a couple weeks before the platinum close-off date in order to get the free game with Mario Kart 8.  Since I signed up I went ahead and registered every Wii U, 3Ds, DS, and Wii game I own, which quickly pushed me into way over Platinum level.  I now realize that I should have only registered a few, and then registered the rest after the cut-off date so that I would already be platinum for the next year.  Oh well..

Should we start a Game Club?

Cool idea.  USgamer is currently doing something like this and it's interesting to read their articles and all the comments from the people participating.  They recently finished FF Tactics and are currently doing Shovel Knight (which I also happen to be currently playing).

As much as i like the idea, I probably won't be taking part, unless everyone just happens to be playing a game that is already in my backog (I've already played all the ones listed). I've got so many games I want to play that I really can't justify replaying any.
