1. How do you know that Nintendo will not release a GoTY edition of Mario Kart 8? I know that it is a Nintendo game and they keep their value long after they are released.(I remember seeing Twilight Princess at full price 4 years after it was released.)
2. I remember a time when you had to pay full price for a new set of 16 courses whenever the next game was released. So, not having to wait 5-6 years for a new collection of tracks is awesome news to me.
3. I do not necessarily agree with your statement that this content should have been in the game to begin with. I agree that Link and the Animal Crossing should have, but I highly doubt that any company would sit on content for 6-10 months before releasing it as DLC. I would assume that they decided to work on this DLC after they saw how many units MK8 sold and decided that it would be worth their time to make additional content. If a game sells like crap I cannot see DLC doing it any good.
4. I wanted to clarify and say that in the end, I am not the biggest fan of DLC. There are certain cases where I believe it to be acceptable and welcome. This is one of them. I say that because there has typically been a 5-6 year wait between console entries. If the next one takes that long to come then I would be happy to have an extra set of tracks to keep things interesting.
5. Remember that my opinions are clearly wrong.
