I didn't realize Yoshimitsu was so popular!

I guess Rufus and Bob are a lot alike.  It wouldn't be the first time fighting game characters copied each other.

Michaelangelo's Pizza

You got the Mikey pizza?  Blech!  I like pineapples and pineapple juice by themselves, but not on pizza.  I do like japapenos, but they don't like me.  You know the saying, 'japapenos burn going in and coming out?'  Well...anyway, even though Raph is my favorite turtle simply because of where his joystick was on the arcade game, I didn't really pick the Raphael pizza because he's my favorite.  I only said that to sound silly and stupid, which you might notice I do that a lot.  Really the reason why we went with the Raph pizza is it had ingredients we would lilke the most.  The cheesy bites crust was OK.  It made it a little harder to hold the pizza but that's it.  The crust looked like little toes, so we called it 'turtle toes.'  The whole thing is just a silly markerting gimmick, but you know what?  We both fell for it.  But what good is life if you can't do silly stuff like that every now and then?

You know what Pizza Hut should do next?  They should make a Pac-Man pizza!  It could have all yellow ingredients, like...uh, cheese.  Maybe they could make a yellow tomato sauce.  They do have yellow tomatoes, so maybe that could happen.  Then before you got your pizza, they'd take a slice out of it so it looked like Pac-Man.  I don't know what they'd do with all those extra slices, I guess they'd have to eat them.  So by the end of the Pac-Man promotion, all Pizza Hut employees would be ten pounds fatter.  So what do you think of my idea? :)

Eh, Tekken's all right, but I've never been able to get into it as much either.  Really the only 3-D fighter I ever really got into was the Soul Calibur games.

Don't worry, I button mash and hope for the best, too.  Fighting game controls are too complicated for me!

Yoshimitsu can do all sorts of crazy stuff in both the Tekken and Soul Calibur games.  His suicide move is handy when you're not facing the opponent, as it can really throw them off when you stab the sword through you and hit the other player!  Yoshimitsu can also hop on his sword like a pogo stick, a la DuckTales.  And he can spin around on his sword, too.  Brother Jeff knows how to do all those crazy moves with him!

Nintendo 2DS Sea Green

If I didn't already have a 3DS, I might be tempted to get a 2DS.  I've been blind in my left eye since birth and can't see 3D effects anyway. I'm just glad you can turn the 3D off in games on the 3DS, unlike the Virtual Boy, which I never got for that reason.

Retro Game of the Week: King of the Monsters

Posted on 08/17/2014 at 04:27 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I remember seeing King of the Monsters and its sequel in arcades a lot when I was younger.  Actually I saw a lot of SNK games in arcades back then.  I don't know if they were really that big or just popular in the area of Texas I live in, though.  I find it interesting that the first King of the Monsters game is a wrestler, while the second game is a side scrolling beat 'em up!  The games are all right, but not that great.  My brothers and I loved playing Rampage and the update a lot, though.

Hey, about a month ago, you wrote a blog about Tekken 3.  Well, just wanted to let you know that I just posted a Tekken blog, and Ithink it would be great if you could please read it and post a comment.  I'm sure your insight would be very helpful and much appreciated.  Thanks!

Life is Viewtiful

Viewtiful Joe was a great game.  It was kind of hard, though.  Viewtiful Joe got really popular back then, with sequels and spinoffs and even a cartoon show (which wasn't very good, by the way).  The company who made Viewtiful Joe went on to do Okami, which was an even better game.  Have you ever played it?

Yeah even though I've seen every other Miyazaki film ever made, I can't bring myself to watch Grave of the Fireflies.

Have you watched The Wind Rises?  That was really good.  i wish they'd bring it to DVD in the US.  It was way better than Frozen and should've won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture.

I don't really 'do' dark and depressing.  The most 'dark and serious' game series I play is Soul Calibur and that's it.  Everything else I do is bright and happy.  Someone told me once I'm the opposite of Goth.
