Sounds like a good, long vacation.

Wow, I like that pretend present!  At least I wouldn't have to worry about anyone trying to mug us on the date or anything. :)

I don't know if it makes me any less of a gamer, but I do the easy settings on a lot of games.

Why the Michael Bay TF movies aren't as bad as you think

Only good thing I can say about the Micheal Bay Transformers movies is that the special effects were awesome.

I think the dumbest part was when in one of the movies, the main character human went to 'robot heaven.'

Like I said before, Fall of Cybertron is what the new Transformers movies should've been.

Hobbit Query Time

Man you're going to be as big as a house with all those breakfasts you're eating!  Unless you're eating Wheaties or Cheerios, then you'll just be really strong!  According to commercials anyway.

I don't know anything about Lord of the Rings or Hobbits, but in this last Sunday's newspaper, the Foxtrot comic strip was about Hobbits.

When my little brother Jeff was very young, he loved to watch me play "Cwono Twigger," as he said it (I also liked how he said Mario RPG: "Mario PG").  Anyway, on my second playthough, Jeff made me name all the characters after people he knew.  Jeff was Chrono, I was Frog, etc.  But when it came time to name the time machine, he couldn't think of anything except he remembered riding around in my friend's truck.  So we named the time machine "Truck."  It was really funny.  From them on, anytime I can name a vehicle in a game, I name it Truck.

Also when Jeff was little, he loved to play an arcade game on one of my collections called Circus Charlie.  In one of the parts of the game, you are a clown riding a badly drawn horse.  When he made the horse go fast, I said, "Wow, he's a turbo horse!"  That made Jeff laugh so hard that from then on, we named it Turbo Horse.  Any game after that where you can name a horse, guess what we name it?  Yup, Link's horse in Zelda games for us is now called Turbo Horse.

West Coast vacation, huh?  Sounds neat.  Long trip, too!

Well if you want a simple arcade game then the D&D games are good, too.  But D&D doesn't have an Amazon. :)

Castle of Illusion I really liked.  The Hatsune Miku game is kind of weird.  I both liked it and disliked it at the same time.

Hey where's my pretend birthday present?  Just joking! :)

Oh yeah, kids love the turtles.  Even though the game has violence, i said in my review I thought it was OK for kids play anyway because the turtles work together and are there for each other like brothers as they solve problems and overcome obstacles, which I think is a good message for kids.

Some complain about limitless continues, but I like it!  Feels like retribution for all the times I had to put in quarters to continue!

Why Transformers the Movie is the best Transformers movie

Posted on 09/22/2013 at 09:02 AM | Filed Under Blogs

The Transformers movie came out at the height of my being 'into' Transformers, so I was very excited to see it in theaters as a kid.  I even brought my first and favorite Transformers toy with me to the movies: Ironhide.

I thought the movie was awful.  I know they killed off a bunch of the characters to make room for new toys, but I think that was totally unnecessary.  Even though I knew they were just toys, so I wasn't distraught or anything, I was still bummed they killed off my favorite character, Ironhide, in the worst way.  Plus, the cursing in the movie was totally uncalled for.  I know they were trying to make it appealing for older viewers, but this is still a movie about kids toys.  They should've just had the characters they wanted to get rid of go off on a faraway mission, and wouldn't return for eons.

After that, the new season of the cartoon featured events after the movie, and it just lost its charm on me. That's about the time that I started being disinterested in Transformers.  Of course, there were other outside factors as well, plus I was just getting older.  You know how fickle kids are.  But the movie was what triggered it all.

But you are right, the animated movie from the 80's is still better than the Micheal Bay films.

If you want to see a Transformers story DONE RIGHT, you definitely need to try Fall of Cybertron.  --Cary
