Join Our Mario Kart 7 Racing Communities!

We've established two to accommodate all players.

With the release of Mario Kart 7, Nintendo has given players a unique way to race and interact together. Through the community feature we can race and communicate (kind of) together and hopefully have a good time. If you'd like to join the community, our codes are below. Enter them into the game and you'll be able to access it at anytime. Going forward we will be organizing racing nights so we can all play together, so we urge you to join!

Mario Kart 7 Review

A blue shell at the finish line knocks it out of first, but you can't complain about finishing in the top three.

After seven entries, it's perfectly understandable to start feeling the fatigue of any series, especially one like Mario Kart where very little changes from entry to entry. However, it's hard to ignore excellence. While Mario Kart 7 is only slightly different, it's so well-executed it should not be overlooked.

PixlTalk Episode 44: Crew Two's Vita Blues

The first week of the second crew of the PixlTalk podcast debuts, complete with Vita whining and a hodgepodge of topics to conclude the show.

As hinted at a couple episodes ago, PixlTalk is going weekly once again. Rather than hearing the same crew every week, each crew will occupy alternating weekly time slots and tonight's episode is the first from the second crew. While Julian will ultimately take over the hosting duties, for this week previous podcast regulars Nick, Chessa, and Jason help break him into his new podcasting role.

Corpse Party Review

If you don't buy this game, I will have a grudge against you, and you don't want me haunting your dreams.

Since its humble 32-bit beginnings, the PlayStation brand has been home to some truly unique and sometimes downright weird games from its native Japan. The PlayStation gave us games like Incredible Crisis, Bust a Groove, One Piece Mansion, and Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman. The trend continued on PS2 with Mr. Mosquito, Katamari Damacy, Gitaroo Man, and Okage: Shadow King. Sadly, with the video game industry being such a volatile, cutthroat business in the current climate, releasing quirky games like these has become a gamble that rarely pays off for publishers. Thankfully, we still have handheld machines like the PSP to give us our experimental Japanese games. Enter Corpse Party, a digital release for PSP that is so niche that I’m surprised it was translated. Surprised, but happy; this is one of those unique, under-the-radar games that is not to be missed.

Mario Kart 7 Sells Gangbusters in Japan

International figures expected to be even bigger.

Mario is a man of many talents and gamers show up in droves when he’s featured in any of his many ongoing franchises.  As we reported earlier, Nintendo had a particularly good Black Friday thanks in part to the portly plumber’s turn in Super Mario 3D Land.  Well, it seems that Mario wasn’t finished selling systems as his 3DS kart racing debut is looking to set even more records in the land of the rising sun.

Scene It? Movie Night Review

While fun with friends, this addition to the Scene It? franchise lacks the substance to make a lasting impression.

Scene It? has been around for a while now and there have been more than a few video game adaptations of the popular DVD/film based trivia game.  Now the game based on the premise of useless cinematic know-how has wound up on the PSN and XBLA as a downloadable game. The move to a digital format makes perfect sense for this type of game, but this stripped down version fails to capture the more fleshed out experience we've come to expect from the franchise.

O Snaking, How I Mourn the Loss

Why Mario Kart 7 has me down.

Well, it's official, snaking is officially gone from the Mario Kart series. After Mario Kart Wii, it was up in the air if future iterations would provide players with such ability, but it appears Mario Kart 7 solidifies the permanent omission. As an advocate of snaking, this is a sad day.

The Kore Gang: Outvasion from Inner Earth Review

Kids are great when there is field work to be done or raw materials to mine, so why waste their energy on video game busy work?

Its manual claims to be a “fantastic action jump 'n' run game” and there is certainly a lot of jumping. The three playable characters, Pixie, Madboy, and a dog, Rex, can be switched to at the press of the C button. Each has specialized, if minimally effective moves that are required to get through levels which do contain considerable amounts of platforming. But it can be more honestly described as a “plat-borer” because The Kore Gang's 30 levels are a near-nonstop string of menial and utterly pointless fetch quests that will bore players of all ages.
