I was sort of thankful I didn’t get any actual games for Christmas this year. With my backlog already extending across three rooms and various hard drives, I am a bit overwhelmed. I still got some gifts that are gaming related, and I figured I’d share them.

Hey, did you know there's a new Armored Core game out today? I bet you didn't realize it. We received an announcement months ago that Armored Core: Verdict Day would be coming out soon, and then heard nothing until today, the day the game launches. Sure there are some minor YouTube videos out there and other blurbs, but you'd have to know to look for them, and even then it ain't much.

As a companion piece to Matt’s blog about getting trounced by Yargz, I figured I’d fess up about Dan and myself. We’ve been playing some Far Cry 3 co-op missions together, having a lot of fun, and getting our asses soundly kicked. Hopefully we can blame it all on the mode being intended for four players, but I’m not sure if it’s scaling it back for two of us or not.

Although I’m not as passionate about it as I once was, my other hobby is running. I’ve been slowed down quite a bit by some knee issues that struck several years ago, but I still keep at it the best I can. Tomorrow, though, is the start of the biggest motivator I have for my running: The Badwater 135.

I certainly don’t fancy myself a video game collector, but I do have more games than I can play for systems old and new. I’m always interested in trying out games that are new to me and this inevitably sends me out looking for and buying more games. Every once in a while, I head out to garage sales and thrift stores, but I almost never find anything even related to video games except for the occasional PS2 sports game or Dora PS1 game that has been vigorously rubbed with 40 grit sand paper. Then, two weeks ago, I actually had some luck! I was driving the dog home from the vet on a Saturday and decided to whiz through garage sales on the way. I found a Genesis with a bunch of games for $25 (after the requisite haggling process).
