Kind of turning into one of those ghosts around here, been busy lately. Thought I'd post a few thoughts on some games I've been playing though. 

So I finally got my Wii U in the mail (took you long enough UPS). Spent some time with New Super Mario Bros U and a little with Super Metroid (I mean, 30 cents. Can't go wrong with that). I noticed something really interesting during this: I prefer to play Mario on the TV while I prefer Metroid on the Gamepad's screen. Could not help but wonder why that was.

RPG fans are a bunch of entitled little babies. There, I fucking said it, now read on or just leave your shit on my comments section for me to laugh at. I am fucking SICK of all these RPG fans crying, "WAAAAAAH we don't have enough RPGs on consoles, we have to play our games on portables and Kickstarters!!!! Also Bob Mackey gave Ni No Kuni a C+ and his opinion holds SOOOOOOOO much wait that it'll hurt the genre's comeback." 

First, this is not me defending Microsoft at all. Everything's so convoluted that I'm not sure what's rumor and what's real at this point, but based on what I've seen, their stance on used games and always online is stupid. It's short sighted and ensures that I will never get an Xbox One until they change this. With that said, I would not get one even if it were not for this.

I have reached that point in the Tomb Raider reboot where I cannot take it anymore. This game is boring. Ignoring any comparisons to the past games it is not technically doing much wrong. Controls are tight, weapons (especially the shotgun) feel good, and the graphics are stunning. Yet these are not ingredients to good game design, they are garnishes. And that's why Tomb Raider is such a bore: Gameplay elements are either outclassed by another game, don't really work right, or too easy. 

I've been neglecting blogging for a while aside from a few half assed posts mainly because of school. Once we hit the last week of the month, I'll be back in full force and will be writing on all the games from this year I'll catch up on (whether or not these are sober or drunk is up in the air...or a vote). For now, however, I just felt like writing a quick blog on my favorite series to write about and my favorite multiplayer: Pokemon. 

God damn. What an ending. Shitty final quarter of the game aside...DAMN that ending makes up for it. Yeah, this is a game you definitely need to play. And this is coming from a guy who didn't like Bioshock 1 at all.

It's no secret that the Playstation Vita is hurting for games right now. Yeah, Soul Sacrifice Tuesday, sure, but after that it's a wait until Muramasa and Jak Trilogy ports in June, then whenever Killzone, Tearaway, Arkham Origins: Blackgate, and Phantasy Star Online 2 hit later in the year. Sorry, but for a system in its second year, that's pathetic. In all fairness, 3DS's lineup last year left much to be desired as well, but I would not say to the same extent Vita is at now and the thing finally got its shit together now. Nevertheless, Vita is being marketed as a portable console, so I figured, why not make a list of ports that would fit well on the thing?

Remember when the 3DS was first coming out and everyone was saying how 3D was a pointless gimmick that added nothing to the games? Well with a few very minor exceptions they were right, it is pretty much useless and I spend 95% of my 3DS time in 2D. The irony however is that the very existance of the 3D is giving us better games. Just look at the games Nintendo showed off yesterday: Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Yoshi's Island, DKC Returns 3D, and Zelda: ALttP2 (FUCK YEAH!).
