So not having a Playstation system before a PSP, this was my first forray into the MGS series. I kept playing this waiting to see why this series is so popular and well, yeah, that's pretty much my experience with it. The entire game was so forgettable and nothing special.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is without a doubt my favorite game in the series. It was so good that after playing it, the other Metal Gear Solid games feel a lot less fun. The story and the gameplay (I'll get to why I like it more than 4 tomorrow) are both my favorite of the series. Its story doesn't try as much as 2, but it gets so much more right than that story. I'm not going to go too in depth since I already typed a write up at 1up, but I have to give something on it.

So, you guys picked which series I would cover. So Crash Bandicoot was a landslide while number 2 was a tie between Ratchet and Clank and Metal Gear Solid. So, it was obvious that I should go with Metal Gear Solid. Ratchet and Clank is a blast to play and more consistent, but no series is really as interesting to discuss as MGS.

But I will participate. So here's the deal. I'm going to offer a few series or developers and then I'll give my thoughts on a different entry each day. I already did Zelda and (somewhat) Halo back at 1up, so that's off the table. But tell me what you want to see and I'll tackle that one. Depending on the series I can do 2 of them. So here's the list

So, Telltale's currently working on four different games at once, and I think spreading themselves too thin. Out of them, the only one I know for certain I'll play is Walking Dead Season 2 with Wolf Among Us as a maybe. Game of Thrones and Borderlands though? Hell no! I realize I'm in the minority for GoT, but Borderlands? Who thought its world was so interesting or there were stories to tell. Borderlands is a 3rd rate Fallout in terms of world, it's successful because of how amazing an idea Diablo meets FPS was. So here's some series, both in and out of gaming, I think would work much better than Borderlands.

I'm liking GTA V. I really am. I was beyond skeptical on it after I really disliked 4, but Rockstar actually addressed my biggest issues with that game and gave a sandbox with the same details and polish I'd expect from a more linear game. But it definitely is a game of highs and lows. Dicking around the sandbox is fun, yoga not so much. Driving at really fast speeds feels great, driving a tow truck is boring. But the thing bothering me most about this game isn't anything gameplay related, it's the attitude towards cops and military as enemies.

2014 looks good, but after 2013 it's pretty clear that any year after would be a step down. Still, here's a few of games I'm most excited for. Can't really think of ten games I'm super excited for, so here's eight

I've been wanting to write this for a while, but Blake recently wrote something once again condemning this series, and I really think a good portion of the hate against this series is misdirected. Now, this is not directed at people who just don't like or don't get Halo (SanAndreas, I'm looking at you). No, this is for people who act like Halo is something that makes gaming worse, a series that should have never existed. That it didn't earn it's spot as one of gaming's greats. To that, I say bullshit.
