Except that Donkey Kong doesn't have one hit.... it has two :P (yeah, I know the statement doesn't help).
The only game I have so far of 2014 is Valdis Story: Abyssal City, but I haven't started it yet.
I saw Pac-Man Museum on Steam, i'll be sure to check it out.
But I love the challenge of DKC Returns!
My only experience with MMOs was playing World of Warcraft once and I do remember enjoying it.
Some of the ones here sound pretty awesome.
Your comment on achivements reminds me how i'm going to get more involved in the badge system of Steam. It's mostly for cosmetic rewards in the form of backgrounds and page costumizations and the only thing it helps is to get slots for the friend list, but eh, I find it pretty cool.

Give it to The Chinese Room to remake the Half-Life 2 mod and give it new life.
I'm a sucker for 2D games, so I may give this one a try.
Seems like one I would most likely get for a few dollars. Even if i'm a sucker for this kind of Indie games, I feel like i'll be careful with this.
Speaking of interactive art, have you tried Dear Esther yet? It's doesn't really suffer much on the gameplay (it's only walking really) and I found the narrative to be well done.
As far as I know, Broken Age is also a Point-and-Click game.
The WW1 setting is one of the reasons I want Valiant Hearts.
