I still haven't seen the film yet, but I hope to do it this week. I specially paid attention when you mentioned that the film is mostly character-driven, which is something I like on films.
Much like Aaron, I had never seen any of the Star Trek shows, which I hope to do someday. However, I had seen Abrams reboot and I liked it a lot and I can't wait to see Into Darkness.

Well, Samus could count as a mother due to her being at the same time a baby Metroid was born and him considering Samus his mother. I also saw the final boss scene from Super Metroid where the baby Metroid (now giant) saved her.
Well, I only heard of it from Sneelantern's blogs. About the game I know nothing.
Since I live in the deep south outside of US, I hadn't heard the news untill this blog. If what you said might turn out to be true, then yeah, why bring up the sexual life if it didn't have nothing to do with the crime?.
