That's really interesting. I'd like to see more video games explore those differences so we can build empathy for those characters. I think games have a special capacity for empathy since you're actually the character.

1. In fighting games, yes, because they tend to be faster characters or just ones I'm good with. For whatever reason, girl characters in fighters oftentimes seem to be the better characters to play as. Also, Samus.

2. I haven't played online games with them so no, but my reaction to your situation is "The fuck is wrong with that guy?"

3. I don't really think about it. It's an interesting topic though. One of my grad school profs was actually wanting to do a study on how much the traits in peoples' aatars would resemble traits they believe themselves to have both physically and in terms of personality. I actually told him that I usually just go for the goofiest look I can if not a default character, but now that I think about it I guess I have tried to make avatars resemble me.

Recently, Arin Hanson said in a Game Grumps Q&A he likes to play as female characters originally because he wanted a female ass to look at while playing (his example was playing as Jill in Resident Evil I think), but also because girl characters are more interesting to him and he prefers the girly colorful stuff to bland looking male stuff. Or something.

Well clearly you weren't addicted to it. lol I remember that game almost got a sequel on Wii. Or maybe it did, but a lot of people were really uncomfortable about it.

Let's Talk About My Absence

Well you've always seemed like one of the kindest, most hard working and patient person, so either dude gets with the job search and some cleaning/gets his GED or things gotta change.

I can't really bash someone else too much for part time work, since I've been unemployed the last couple months and know how hard job search can be, but the least he could do is help around the house. I'm pretty open to helping the people I live with until something else takes up my free time and I think you have to be gracious enough to relaize someone is doing you a favor and do it back.

Today is Yoshi Day!!!

My favorite nostalgic memories are often the ones that are somewhat hazy to me. So while I remember Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island, I'd have to say Yoshi's Story on N64 is my favorite memory. I still kind of consider Yoshi's Island a Mario game since it was called Super Mario World 2 and had Mario in it, albeit as a baby.

Looking them up, they look VERY different.

PSX version is pixely, but has much more going on visually, whereas N64 has more polygonal models and is barren. I definitely remember N64 version more.

I'm thinking PC Police would be a wacky Tim Schafer game.

I don't think LoK (based on Avatar cartoon) was PS+, but it's definitely download-only for 360, PS3, PC and I guess the current gen consoles now.

I remember playing Road Rash on N64. So fun.

DKC2 was fun and I think I also rented 3.

Never heard of Comix Zone til a Youtube video covered it.

Settlers of Cataan is apparently popular among GB Packers players.

I love "Left Behind" as well as "You" by Candlebox. Definitely remember those from radio.

I need to listen to more King Crimson, since I only know "21st Century Schizoid Man," which I first heard via a reference in Bad Religion's "21st Century Digital Boy" and then I heard the sample in Kanye West's "Power" after listening to the original.

I found Tragic Kingdom for $5 at Target in 2012 when I was starting to date someone. Appropriate, since Gwen Stefani probably made me realize I like girls in that "Don't Speak" video when I was little and I always found that song sexy for some reason.

Never heard "Perry Mason" or the Osmosis album.

When I was a Station Manager, one DJ loved the song "Peaches" by Presidents of the United States of America. I didn't know about the two/four string thing until Danny Avidan mentioned it on Game Grumps. The song I remember coming around on after initially not liking it was "Lump."

I should give Primus another chance. Never got into them, but maybe I haven't heard the right songs?

Interesting you like One Hot Minute the most, since it's most RHCP fan's least favorite. Only song I remember hearing from it is "Aeroplane." Never saw the music video until just now looking it up. Interesting ..

I dig Smashing Pumpkins in general. Think it's "1979" though. As in since you seem to love bass, you should check out the band Death From Above 1979.

Never really noticed the bass in "In the Meantime," but I always loved the guitar and general feel of that song.

I definitely remember thinking the woman at the start of "More Human Than Human" was in pain and not what I realized she was when I got older. lol
