September 2015 Recap

Posted on 10/03/2015 at 06:48 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I just think Kirby games are less frustrating.  Mario games can get pretty hard in places, but Kirby games rarely get that way.  Kirby games were initially designed for younger players anyway.  Also, I think old arcade games are good to start kids off on gaming, too, due to their simplicity. Mario games are great, don't get me wrong, but I just think Kirby games are better.

Nintendo franchises that might be good Mobile games

Most touch screen Nintendo games feel like they could work for mobile devices, too.  Other ones not on your list could include Pokemon Shuffle, Art Academy, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong.  I bet if Nintendo goes mobile, we'll see some of those games.

Hooray for Kirby!  I think little kids should start out playing Kirby games, not Mario.

I'm glad you got a winter job!  Are you still going to do the snowshoe races?

I'm also glad you finished The Maw.  I don't think you'll be missing anything by moving on form it, but it sure was a cute game, wasn't it?  I wish more game makers besides Nintendo would still make games like that.  We don't get that many anymore.  Kind of makes me a little sad.

I just bought the Portal pack that goes with LEGO Dimensions, but I don't have the full game yet.  But the Portal stuff was the real reason why I wanted to play it, so at least I have it ready.

Right now I'm working on finishing my Skylanders Superchargers review, which will post late next week.  I'm also playing a lot of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.  It's not as good as regular Animal Crossing, so i can't recommended it to you unless you REALLY like AC as much as I do.  Later this month I'll be looking forward to playing Chibi Robo: Zip Lash and Yoshi's Woolly World, among other things.

Hope you have a great weekend!  --Cary

Captain America and the Avengers Review

I never played any of the home console versions of this, but I did play it in the arcade quite a few times.  I did like the really bad Engrish and when you died your guy would say, "I...can't...moooooove!"  It was entertaining, but there were certainly much better beat 'em ups out there.

Oh yeah!  I remember those characters now!  I really liked them, so you're good at knowing what I like.  Since fighting games aren't my favorite genre, I don't always remember the characters in them, and I don't try to remember them either.  Not a priority.  There's another Guilty Gear character that I remember that I thought was cool.  She had pink hair and a sword and sometimes had a metal arm thing.  But she was tough looking and had pink hair, so I thought that was cool.

2003? Oh, Let Me See. . .

Posted on 09/30/2015 at 06:19 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Things started to pick up for me in 2003.  2001 and 2002 were pretty rough on me, but by 2003 I got a job at a place I really liked.  Well, I really liked the job duties, I just didn't like some of the other people who worked there.  Which is strange because I worked at a church.  But I still liked what I did, too bad I was only able to work there three and a half years.  The job I got after that I'm still working in, but I'm really starting to hate it.  I forsee me quitting in the next six months or so.

Another good thing about 2003 is that is when I started writing for GamerDad.com!  It was a much different site back then, but it was nice to be reviewing games semi-professionally again.

I was still playing the heck out of  GC Animal Crossing in 2003.  That's one of the reasons why it's on my top five favorite games of all time list.  I know that 2003 is when the first WarioWare game came out on the GBA, and that was my Game of the Year in 2003.  There were a lot of other games I enjoyed around that time, but I can't remember if they came out in 2002 or 2003, and I'm too lazy to look right now.  --Cary
