Amazing VG Themes: VG Songs with Lyrics

Posted on 03/12/2015 at 07:19 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Please forgive me, as I'd like to contribute to this blog, but I'm too lazy to post YouTube links.  You can do a search for any of mine if you are interested.

I think the first time I heard lyrics in a game song was the intro to ClayFighter. :)

I'm glad you put Melodies of Life from FF9 on here.  I also like the ending theme from Chocobo Racing.

The Portal ending song is great.  I also like the one in the sequel, "Want You Gone."

There was a song in Rhythm Heaven Fever on Wii that had lyrics I liked, but I can't remember which one it was!  I know that's not helpful.

And don't forget Wahoo Stomp (Stepping Wind) from Klonoa 2.  Sure it may be gibberish, but it sure is catchy.

And speaking of gibberish, there is a song near the beginning of Tales of Legendia called "The Bird Chirps, I Sing," that has lyrics consisting of a made up language for the game.  Go Shiina is genius.

And I'm kind of sad you didn't put any songs from Katamari Damacy games on here.  I like a lot of those songs.

Is anyone here a Neptunia fan?

I've reviewed a couple of them.  They're really not that great.  Too much dialogue and text.

Back when Pokemon first came out, I saw it at E3 that year and remember reading about how it was picking up speed in Japan.  I saw how they were going to market Pokemon in the US and I knew it would be big.  I requested to my editor that I cover all Pokemon games, and he was like, 'sure, whatever.'  So when the game came out, I was reviewing Pokemon games and events left and right.  I like to say that Pokemon helped pay my way through college.

I played the original Blue version to death.  I did get the GBA remake, but I didn't complete it like I did the original.  Actually I haven't finished any of the Pokemon games besides the original, because they're kind of all the same, really.  And to answer your question, the first RPGs I ever played were Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy on the NES, but the first RPG I truly got into was FF2 (FF4) on the Super NES.  And I bet this won't be the only Pokemon game we see on your list.

Never saw Maze Runner but the title did sound like Pac-Man.

I liked Minish Cap, but I felt it was too short.  I think I beat it in a weekend.  My favorite Zelda game is Link's Awakening.  Have you played that one?

I don't have any interest in playing these games either, but the lore behind them sure is interesting.

You never used a crock pot?  We use ours all the time.  Made tonight's dinner with it, actually.  I also make my annual company Christmas party weenies in it, too.

You got carded because you've been training so much that you must look way younger than in your 40's!

My Weekend: Super Mario RPG, Diablo III, Miis, and Fantasy Life

Super Mario RPG is a great game.  I played it to death back in the day.  It's not as good as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, though.  I'd like to try Fantasy Life, but I don't have the time.  Can't play 'em all, you know?

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is the best Mario RPG ever.  It's a shame Sticker Star was so bad.  But yeah, GameCube Paper Mario was brilliant.  It never got slow or dull, and the script had some of the most clever writing in any video game I played.  I loved the crows' conversations in the trees, and Luigi in the game was just a parody on how nonsensical the story was.
