Friends, I come today bearing great news that will change your life. For my painful last night of insomnia, I had incidentally stumbled on a goldmine of an unknown venture of a popular fighting game franchise. Specifically I'm talking about Street Fighter which pretty much everyone knows about. Everyone also knows about in the 1990's how popular the franchise was, creating many media spin offs. Movies, cartoon shows, and even comics were well known popular culture mostly due to how bad they were. But apparently that wasn't enough for Capcom. Oh no, it would be Capcom if they did something without over doing it. Brace yourselves, because the next video may forever change your perception of Street Fighter...forever. PixlBit-ers (as well 1UPpers) I give to you...Street Fighter II: The Ride!
I play a lot of games on kongregate. As a matter of fact, I probably spend way too much time on that website. However, the lure of thousands of free games is too much to withstand. And games that I don't need to download, I might add. Yes, I know the site is owned by the evil Gamestop, but free games! Recently, they've been offering free “Kongpanians” if you get the badge of the day, and the special shiny version if you get four more badge of the days in that same calendar week. As far as I can tell, these things do absolutely nothing, other than show up on your profile page, and the shiny version is just more of nothing. Anyway, in my short-lived quest to get a shiny version of a kongpanion, I ran across Epic Battle Fantasy 3. I was only going to play long enough to get the badge of the day, but I ended up spending a week on it.
Oh boy, today was fun. If you're in the New England area you, like me, were likely snowed in today. We got some serious snow dumped on us and as a result, I spent the day working from home. It actually wasn't too bad, minus the need to clear my damn driveway of snow. Thankfully that's all done now, so barring any great amounts more of snow, I should be out of the woods.
Mikey Shorts is a 2D platformer for iOS. It’s a simple game but plenty of fun. The virtual controls work extremely well, with arrows for running left and right and buttons for jumping and sliding. I never had any problems getting Mikey to do what I wanted.
It turns out that I have the greatest godson in the world. I gave him an outdated peice of technology for Christmas and he was ecstatic, he was also speechless. What did I get him you ask, a DS.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is without a doubt my favorite game in the series. It was so good that after playing it, the other Metal Gear Solid games feel a lot less fun. The story and the gameplay (I'll get to why I like it more than 4 tomorrow) are both my favorite of the series. Its story doesn't try as much as 2, but it gets so much more right than that story. I'm not going to go too in depth since I already typed a write up at 1up, but I have to give something on it.
Having beeen a Nintendo supporter since I was 5 and playing an NES and Gameboy, I've always looked forward to how they would next innovate the video game market. Now fast forward 20 years later and all I want Nintendo to do...is somehow, some way, do something...to get 3rd party support...and I'm not talking lazy ports *Cough* Mass Effect 3 when other systems got the trilogy *cough* or even bad shovelware titles that always seem to plague Nintendo systems.
Well at least I'm feeling better. My headache is gone for the most part, with only a minor twinge of pain here and there. It's actually an improvement, considering how long this kind of headache usually lasts.
