I never thought I would ask "What the fuck?" more than when I played Metal Gear Solid 2. Then I played Metal Gear Solid 4. I don't even know where to start with this game. Wrapping up all of 2's plot points was a no lose battle. If they tried and failed to in one game, they'd get shit on for that. If they spread it out between games, they'd get shit on for making things more convoluted (which, considering this is Kojima, was inevitable). Yet neither happened, and they performed god's work by wrapping up everything in 4. No matter what I say after, this game deserves ridiculous praise just for that feat alone.
We need more games based around heartbeats, right? Of course! Enter Lub vs Dub, an endless runner (‘natch) where the two sounds of the heartbeat duke it out. Well, you know, in a running sort of way. There are two ways to play: Single Player Sprint and Two Player Battle. In the sprint your little character (Lub, I believe) runs along a heart monitor line. It’s pretty static but there are little spikes you must jump and large ones that can be avoided only by flipping over to the other side of the line. Along the way you can collect power ups to increase your score and hearts to multiply it at the end. It gets pretty hectic as the speed increases and you try to keep straight when to jump and when to flip. It’s a fun little runner.
I am beginning to worry that I am not going to make it to the end of the month with the Blog a Day challenge. Hopefully I will be able to, but at this moment I would not count on it. I will probably have a different outlook tomorrow.
Let's be honest, 2013 wasn't a great year for fighting games. Not terrible in a long stretch, but in comparison to previous years. 2014, in comparison, is looking to be big. Really, big. So big that to explain it all I have to split it between 3 separate blogs (and even then its still not big enough to explain it all). But today we start big with the 4 biggest fighting games to look forward to this year (so far). Featuring a plethora styles, genres, and even a new franchise too. A diverse set of fighting games that should appeal to everyone.
I started this month's BaD entries talking about the value of consoles, and what would convince me to buy the latest ones. In short, I'm not really up on buying any of them right now, either due to lack of games, pricing, or both. The handheld side, however, is another matter.
So today I decided I'd go and talk about a little hobby of mine. Most people do different hobbies. Some people collect stamps or coins. Some people knit. Me...I like to buy and play bad Wii games. Now this is a very odd hobby. I mean there are tons of shovelware titles for Wii...and I do mean a ton. These games can vary from lazy mini game compilations such as Carnival Games or licensed scholck such as Barbie and the Three Musketeers. If you've ever wondered what type of reaction you get when you buy a Barbie game in a store as a grown man...well I wouldn't know....I bought mine online to hide away my shame in the privacy of my home.
