Retro Game of the Week: Spyro the Dragon

Posted on 01/03/2015 at 04:25 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I love Spyro. He reminds me of Figment from EPCOT, one of my favorite Disney characters.

I have to disagree on one thing, there were TONS of 3-D platformers on the PSOne.  I reviewed a bunch of them back then.

The makers of Spyro went on to do the Ratchet and Clank games, which are awesome, too.  They're what a 3-D Mega Man should've been (no disrespect to Mega Man Legends).

Here's some interesting trivia about the first Spyro the Dragon game.  The voice of Spyro was also the same guy who voiced the Taco Bell dog.  And the music in the first Spyro game was done by Steve Copeland of The Police.

Spyro is still around today, in Skylander form.  He's my favorite one.

It's Our Anniversary

Happy Anniversary!  In Mario 3-D World, I always played as Toad.  It was more of a single player expereince with me because no woman in their right mind would marry me. :)  Ha ha!  If you like the Captain Toad levels in Mario 3-D World, you know they just made a whole game out of it.  Definitely a "Cary" kind of game, too!  Check out my GOTY blog for some Wii U ideas for your future, and soon I'll have a blog about games I'm looking forward to in 2015, and many of them are Wii U titles!  --Cary

I'm sad that you didn't get DuckTales Remastered.  I really like that game.

I'm reviewing a Guilty Gear game right now.  It's the newest one.  Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN.  Not sure how you say "Xrd."  I'll probably write a blog about my favorite Guilty Gear characters soon, too.  Let me know if there are any that you think I would like.  I need all the help I can get.

When you are done with Shovel Knight, you should try one of the Shantae games.

Happy New Year!

2014 was definitely better than 2013.  Granted, 2014 wasn't super fantastic, but it was a lot better than the year prior.

I didn't even stay up till midnight last night.  I got home from work very tired, as it's our busy season right now, and I went to bed around 9, thinking I might wake up before midnight to ring in the New Year.  But when I woke up again and looked at my clock, it was past one, so I just went back to sleep.

Happy New Year ^_^

Hooray for The Wind Rises!  That should've won the Oscar for best animated picture, not Frozen.

Diez of the DS

I remember playing a demo DS at E3 back then.  All the demo stations were crowded except for the one for Pac-Pix, so that was the first DS game I ever played.  I miss those days.

I hope you get to play the Phoenix Wright games!  That was my favorite series on the DS!

No, Pac-Man Party isn't good at all.

Back in the PS2 and GameCube days, Namco released a Mario Party style game called Pac-Man Fever that was much better, but it still wasn't that great.

It's a shame, too, because that was my GOTY back in the year 2000 or whatever year it was released.

It's EXACTLY like Zelda!  I'm surprised Nintendo didn't sue!
