As a 1up survivor, I too was looking for a new place to call home while frantically trying to save my blogs. I'm just glad I was able to call this place my new internet home. Alot of the people I knew from 1up move here so I was glad I was able to see some familiar faces, but I met some new ones as well. I'll write something about this hopefully today so I'll keep this short. But congrats Pixlbit and congrats everyone!

Matt Snee Celebrates Five Years of PixlBit
PixlBit means a lot to me, but with two main focuses: community, and integrity.
For myself, and a lot of others, PixlBit came to be a second home once 1up died. Not everyone made it over, but a lot did, and it's very important to me that this community not only lived on, but was enhanced by PixlBit. I have a lot of close friends here, and some bloggers I love to read. To have a place to talk about games that's far and away saner than anywhere else on the internet, is pretty special, I think.
But now that I've joined the staff, I'm also a part of that community as well, and I've made some new friends to go along with the old. I've gotten to know Nick, Jesse, Angelo, and Joaquim, quite well so far, and I'm glad to call them friends. Hell, now I'm even playing D&D with these guys, something I've wanted to return to for 20 years.
Secondly, PixlBit to me is about integrity. Nick has created a place that not only is free of cronyism, but also free of an editorial mandate or social mission (neither liberal nor conservative or whatever) which I very much enjoy. It's the TRUE pluralism I appreciate here, and some of us lean to one side, and some of us to the other, but we all agree to get along, whether you think games are art or not, or whether you think COD is crap or great.
In times like these when everyone has a sort of worldview they'd like to impart with you, I appreciate this more than ever. If this world is going to survive, we're going to have to get past our differences and all agree on a few things. Here, we all agree games are awesome.
