As a 1up survivor, I too was looking for a new place to call home while frantically trying to save my blogs. I'm just glad I was able to call this place my new internet home. Alot of the people I knew from 1up move here so I was glad I was able to see some familiar faces, but I met some new ones as well. I'll write something about this hopefully today so I'll keep this short. But congrats Pixlbit and congrats everyone!

Jamie Alston Celebrates Five Years of PixlBit
For me, PixlBit was a much-need second chance at sharing my thoughts with a rational video game community. As most of you probably already know by now, I am one of the “refugees” of the now defunct 1Up website. When news hit about the site’s impending demise last year, my heart sank at the thought of having to find a new place to call home. That was quickly followed by the feeling of disappointment at the prospect of having to settle for half-baked blogging “communities” offered at other big-name corporate sites like IGN and the like.
And then, a beacon of hope came into my view thanks to the recommendation of a few of my 1Up buddies. They asked me to check out PixlBit for my game blogging needs. And boy, were they right! At first I was unsure if this would be the right place for me. But after setting up a profile and reading some of articles from the PixlBit staff and community blogs, I knew I had hit the jackpot. What particularly convinced me to stay was a nice little post Nick DiMola had put up welcoming the former 1Up bloggers to this site with open arms. It was like biting into a warm chocolate chip cookie of community friendship.
Nick was even nice enough to let me write for Pixlbit as a staff writer. Since then, I’ve made more friends around here than I expected. This whole experience really made this the most pleasant transition from one website to another that I could have ever expected. Sure, the work is unpaid and on a volunteer basis, but I think it’s better that way.
I know I’ve only been here a little over a year, but I’ve really been enjoying myself around these parts!
Here’s to another 5 years PixlBit!
